Paros is also a great base to explore the other islands in the Cyclades from your yacht charter, spend a night partying in Mykonos, have a photogenic lunch on the coast in Santorini or go for a morning swim at a beautiful beach in Naxos, alternatively go for all three! Our staff will plan an itinerary to quench your thirst.
Do not miss when traveling to Paros
A visit to the family estate Moraitis Winery. Founded in 1910 the family have cultivated these vineyards from generation to generation. The private 10 hectare vineyard has now been handed down to the 4th generation of the family who have continued the long tradition of wine making to produce very high quality wines produced from the islands rare and indigenous grape varieties, giving the wine unique characteristics only found on the island of Paros. A full range of local wines, meats and cheeses are served during the wine tasting to bring out the very best flavors of the island.
Breathtaking dining experience in Paros
Contemporary Greek cuisine is at its best at Levantis Garden Restaurant in Parikia. Traditional Greek dishes are combined with a modern spin on Mediterranean cuisine. The ambience of the restaurant is deeply rooted in Cycladic island tradition, dine at your candle lit table under the 200 year old grape vine in the beautiful courtyard. With a menu that focuses on high quality seasonal ingredients, the dishes are constantly changing. However, during the summer you can’t go wrong with the fish of the day. Ask for wine pairings from their extensive list of local wines.
Mario Restaurant is a great spot for sunset. Fresh Mediterranean cuisine using only the best organic and locally sourced ingredients, the dishes are light and fresh, perfect to enjoy whilst overlooking the port of Naoussa and the Venetian Castle ruins. Daily fresh fish and a fantastic selection of wines. We highly recommend the fresh fish carpaccio with sea urchin.
Next to the charming church of Agios Dimitrios in Naoussa is a small stone house that has now been converted into a decadent oyster and cocktail bar named Ohja. With the calm sea breeze coming across the shore and the salty air in your hair this is a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and some delicious oysters to open up the palate before dinner.
All of these highly sought after gourmet restaurants and bars have long waiting lists for reservations but with Arthaud Yachting’s private concierge service you will always have a table available.
Paros best local dishes
As with all of the Greek Cyclades seafood is the star of the show. Caught daily, the fresh fish is like nothing you’ve ever tasted. Fresh grilled octopus is popular on the island, served with a squeeze of lemon, a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt. It’s definitely worth a try.
In the fish tavernas on the island you will most likely see Gouna on the menu, a dried mackerel that is butterflied, covered with fragrant herbs and salt and left to hang in the sun to cure for 3 to 4 hours. It is then chargrilled and served with lemon. To be enjoyed in a small hole in the wall fish taverna and preferably with a view of a small wooden fishing boat.
Kakavia is the Greek version of a French bouillabaisse. A traditional white fish and vegetable soup made with onions, olive oil and saffron. A fantastic hangover cure if you happened to overindulge the night before.
The local culture of Paros
Parikia is a beautiful colorful old town full of incredible history. Wander its ancient streets and visit some of the amazing historical sites such as the Church of a Hundred Doors or ‘Panagia Ekatontapiliani’, one of the oldest and most important churches in Greece. This area is well known for its marble which has been used in many famous monuments around the Cyclades.
Visiting the peaceful ancient cemetery with magnificent stone and marble tombs that date from the 8th century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D. Other achealogical discoveries can also be seen in this beautifully preserved park.
The ruins of an old Venetian Castle can be seen in the picturesque port of Naoussa. Dating back to the 14th century this castle adds a nice touch of history to the harbor. With many cafes surrounding the area you can sit and spend some time admiring the history that took place here before heading up to explore the narrow streets of Naoussa, which many consider to be one of the most charming villages in the Cyclades.
Best beaches in Mykonos accessible from your private yacht
Kolymbithres is one of the must-see beaches of Paros, the smooth rock formations that line the shore have an extraterrestrial feel to them. The natural shape of the bay has created two main beach areas, each with its own beach club. If you’re lucky you may be able to take over one of the smaller patches of sand between the rocks and have your own private beach to enjoy for the day.
One of Paros’ hidden gems is the beach of Kalogeros, a beautiful sand and pebbled beach that is known for its healing clay mud. Break off a piece of clay from the cliffs and mix it with sea water to create one of the best natural skin treatments you ever tried. Dry out in the sun and rinse off in the sea to leave with baby smooth skin.
Faragas is a set of three small coves on the South of the island, the beautiful golden sand and bright clear waters are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling at the nearby rock formations. The central cove has a beach bar with sunbeds where cocktails and food can be ordered. This is potentially one of the most beautiful sets of beaches in Paros.
Arthaud Yachting’s recommendation
We recommend taking a day trip to nearby Naxos island. Its beautiful beaches and gorgeous scenery will have you captivated. It’s also a great place for some sports activities such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, cycling and horseback riding on the beach. Finish off the day with a beautiful sunset cocktail on deck before taking your luxury yacht charter back to Paros port in time for dinner.
