La Maddalena best local dishes
One of the most typical Sardinian meals is called Fregola Sarda alla Vongole, it consists of tiny pasta balls (fregola) covered in a flavorful, fragrant, white wine and pomodoro sauce, garnished with fresh clams and basil. An absolute must-try.
Another one of the most famous Sardinian dishes is “Porcheddu,” a small suckling pig that is carefully slow roasted in aromatic herbs at low heat for many hours to ensure the most tender and flavorful meat. Pair with a delicious local red wine from Gallura.
Also try the exclusive handmade Andarinos di Usini, a style of twisted corkscrew pasta swirls that originate from the Sardinian village of Usini. A recipe passed down from generations to generations, this remains one of the island’s staple food products.
Local culture of La Maddalena
The archipelago of La Maddalena hosts endless natural and historical cultural attractions. The region became a national park in 1994 and is one of the most beautiful natural reserves in all of Italy. The locals take pride in conserving the region’s incredible fauna and flora. With a rich ecosystem of land and marine wildlife, the islands are a magnet for divers, snorkelers, bird enthusiasts and lovers of nature from around the world.
17th century Italian strongholds and bases that served as defense against the French military governed by Napoleon Bonaparte are scattered across the islands. One of the most impressive being the fort of Sant’Andrea, perched on a granite rock on one of the highest points of the island. The fort has had various purposes over the years, ranging from defensive operations to prisoner accommodations.
Best beaches in Amalfi accessible from your private yacht rental
With over 300 of the world’s most beautiful natural beaches at your disposal it can be hard to decide where to go.
For a natural crystal-clear swimming pool head to the east coast of Giardinelli Island to the Testa di Polpo beach. The water here is so pure and clear it is said to have been a favorite bathing location of spiritual leader Aga Khan Karim.
Nicknamed Sardinia’s “Tahiti,” the Caprera island beach of Cala Coticcio’s collection of blue green sea hues, amazing fine sand and botanical plant life definitely makes it a competitor against some of the finest beaches in French Polynesia and the Pacific. Enjoy a refreshing morning swim in this Mediterranean paradise before exploring the rest of Caprera island.
The Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) is perhaps the most emblematic beach of the whole archipelago. Situated on the island of Budelli, this beach is a worldwide treasured natural phenomenon. The beach gets its unique pink color from sand sized pieces of coral fragments and shells that have been washing up against its shore for thousands of years. The beach has restricted access by land, but you can enjoy it from the privacy of your luxury yacht charter.
