The best time to visit Venice and charter a private yacht is between the months of April and October. During this time, the weather is warm and pleasant, making it ideal for cruising the canals and waterways. In addition, many of the city’s famous festivals and events take place during this time, such as the Venice Film Festival and the Venice Biennale. Arthaud Yachting offers a large selection of yachts, sailing boats, and catamarans depending on your needs. We recommend booking well in advance for charters during peak season.
Top cruising areas on the coast of Venice
One of the best areas to cruise in a private gondola in Venice is the Grand Canal, which runs through the heart of the city. This historic waterway offers stunning views of the city’s architecture and is lined with historic palaces, churches, and famous landmarks, such as the Rialto Bridge and the Palazzo Ducale. The Giudecca Canal is also a great place to discover, as it offers a more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere to soak in the culture. The Venetian Lagoon is also a must-see, where you can explore the nearby islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello.
Do not miss when traveling to Venice!
The Piazza San Marco. This famous square is home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Basilica di San Marco, an iconic church known for its stunning mosaics and ornate architecture. The Basilica is also home to several important works of art, including the Pala d’Oro, a Byzantine altarpiece made of gold and precious stones. The Piazza is also surrounded by lovely cafes and restaurants, making it an ideal spot for people-watching.
Stunning dining experience in Venice
When it comes to fine dining in Venice, you are spoiled for choice. There are several fine dining restaurants to choose from, many of which have one or more Michelin stars.
Antiche Carampane is a Michelin star restaurant situated in the beating heart of Venice. Located down some hidden streets near the Rialto fish market, their slogan is ‘You don’t arrive here by chance.’ Expect impeccable traditional Venetian cuisine with a modern twist. The extensive wine list will provide the opportunity for a perfect pairing with every plate. We highly recommend trying the seafood risotto and the cuttlefish black-ink spaghetti.
In the sestiere of Cannaregio, you will find « Osteria al Portego« , perhaps one of the most welcoming and famous restaurants in all of Venice. The menu is a mix of contemporary and traditional dishes, with an emphasis on seafood and locally sourced Venetian ingredients. Specialties include Venetian liver and cod-based dishes.
« Da Fiore« , which has two Michelin stars, is another restaurant worthy of mention. Here they offer a gourmet seven-course tasting menu that will take you on a gastronomic journey of Venetian cuisine while you sit in the delightful atmosphere on their terrace, overlooking one of the small canals. We recommend any of the seafood pastas and of course, the slow-roasted, red wine braised pork.
These restaurants are often in high demand and usually have long waiting lists for reservations, with Arthaud Yachting’s private concierge service you will always have a table available.
Venice best local dishes
Cicchetti are small tapas-style seafood or meat plates that are typically served with a glass of wine. Great for an in-between meal snack.
Risi e Bisi, is a heartwarming traditional Venetian dish made with rice, peas, parmesan, and pancetta butter. Somewhere in between a risotto and a soup, this creamy comfort food will not disappoint.
Tiramisu is the famous Italian dessert made of layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and cocoa powder. For some reason, it just hits a little differently here.
Local culture of Venice
Venice is a city rich in culture and history. The city is famous for its art, with many famous artists such as Tintoretto and Veronese having lived and worked in Venice. Their works can be viewed at the Gallerie dell’Accademia and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco.
In addition to art, Venice is also famous for its architecture, with many of the city’s buildings dating back to the Renaissance period. The best way to see the city’s famous architecture is by taking a gondola ride through the canals or by visiting the Palazzo Ducale and the Basilica di San Marco.
Between May and September, Venice hosts many cultural events such as the Venice Film Festival, the Venice Biennale, and the Venice Carnival. These events are great opportunities to experience the local culture and see the city come alive with music, art, and dance.
Arthaud Yachting’s recommendation
If you’re looking for a unique way to spend a day on a private yacht, consider visiting Murano, one of the islands in the Venetian Lagoon. Murano is known for its glassmaking, and visitors can witness glassblowers at work in the island’s factories. After visiting the factories, take a stroll through the island’s charming streets and stop by one of the local shops to purchase a piece of hand-blown glass as a souvenir before retiring to the privacy of your luxury chartered yacht for a sunset cocktail.
